Programming

The Programming committee is an exciting opportunity for people who want to get involved in actual productions, exhibits and events.  The Programming committee needs people who are willing to help establish and maintain arts events from a weekly film series to concerts to major theatrical productions.

Marketing / Public Relations

The Marketing Committee's primary focus is to encourage performing arts groups to use the Opera House and to promote increased attendance at these events. This is to be achieved through this web site, by providing advertising and marketing assistance to performance groups, and by distributing brochures and flyers. The Marketing committee simply needs people who know how to sell and feel good about promoting the arts in the greater Derry area.

The Public and Community relations committee is responsible for producing the GDAC quarterly newsletter, promotional brochures, Opera House playbills, calendar of events and press releases. They also act as the liaison with other arts organizations and are responsible for maintaining and expanding the membership base. The Public and Community Relations committee is looking for people who are interested in helping produce our printed communications material, developing relations with the media and being involved in hands-on activities to sponsor art education.

These committees are currently meeting jointly.

Fund Raising / Grant Writing

The Fund Raising committee is involved in planning events which focus on raising operating funds to help defray the costs of utilities, and capital funds for the ongoing renovation and improvement of the Adams Memorial Opera House.  The Fund Raising committee is looking for people who are not afraid to ask for donations and have some creative ideas for events that can help support our cause.

The Grant Writing committee is probably the most challenging, most rewarding and most important committee. Their responsibility is to look for grant funding for all the activities of the GDAC and the restoration of the Opera House. This committee would welcome people who are motivated to learn the grant writing process.

These committees are currently meeting jointly.

Opera House Maintenance and Improvement

The Building committee encompasses two aspects, first, the "fit-up" of the Opera House as a first-class fine and performing arts center and, second, its ongoing maintenance and management. The jobs run from minor repairs to major renovations. The Building committee is looking for people who are interested in historic preservation, building renovation, project planning and theater technology. We also need house attendants, ushers, and assistant technical directors.
